Challenges

The project involved working within a constrained high street environment with limited access and simultaneous activity across two building levels. This reduced on-site welfare and storage options, requiring Hurst to secure and manage an off-site unit to support project delivery.

Careful programme management, phased deliveries, and clear coordination across trades were essential to maintain progress and quality while working within these logistical constraints.

Solution

Hurst delivered a complete fit-out of the branch, managing all aspects from planning to completion including construction of new walls, ceilings, and flooring, manufacture and installation of fire doors to meet building regulations, and a full MEP package provided by our in-house team. Works also included structural alterations to accommodate a new lift, enhancing accessibility across the two-storey site.

Bespoke joinery, including reception counters and office desking, was manufactured and installed by Hurst to ensure consistency with Leeds Building Society’s brand. The branch was also fitted with acoustic glazed meeting rooms, staff facilities, and branded finishes in line with the Society’s corporate standards.
