The Brief

Award-winning designer, Maris Interiors LLP, approached Hurst Joinery Projects based on recommendation to tender for the various joinery elements for a high-end office refurbishment in Mayfair, London.

With the client wanting to occupy the offices as quickly as possible, the program of works required a tight schedule to be delivered however without compromising on quality. Special consideration had to be given to the other occupants within the building whilst the works were carried out and to the restricted access to the top floor office space.

Project Challenges

• Located in an extremely busy area of London and with other offices within the building occupied during working hours, deliveries were made early in the morning to keep disruption to a minimum.

• With the office space located on the top floor and lift access unfeasible, the joinery elements were delivered via the stairs access.

• The tight program meant that some materials were unavailable due to lead times however Hurst were able to advise and provide sample boards for alternatives which still achieved the desired quality look and finish.

The Solution

Both Hurst and Maris Interiors worked closely together on the pre-contractual work to carefully plan the materials, costings and delivery of the project to ensure the client’s vision could be achieved within the budget and time constraints.

Once approved, all joinery items were manufactured and transported to site for installation. These included a kitchenette, tea point island, banquette seating, AV Wall, collaboration table and shelving in addition to a breakout planter. A bespoke wall panel solution was also commissioned to the client’s requirements when another supplier was unable to deliver.

To achieve the desired high-end contemporary interior, a range of quality materials and finishes were used in the design of the joinery elements including veneers, laminates, paints, upholstery and metal work.

The Result

The project was successfully delivered within the timescales and the client was extremely pleased with the overall outcome, the quality of the materials and workmanship provided. Based on the success of this project, Hurst is now partnering with other Maris Interior work streams on various schemes.
