Estimator/Quantity Surveyor
Hurst Group is actively recruiting an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team, specialising in shop fitting, bespoke joinery, and fire doors. This is a full-time position based at our Bradford office, requiring a highly organised and commercially driven professional. The successful candidate will oversee the financial and contractual aspects of construction projects, ensuring they are delivered within budget, to the highest quality standards, and with maximised profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Handover & Contract Management:
- Participate in project handover meetings and prepare the Contract Management Plan in collaboration with the Project Manager.
- Obtain approval for the plan from the Commercial Director before site operations commence.
- Sub-Contractor Management:
- Review selected sub-contractors and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare and issue sub-contract orders with all necessary documentation.
- Ensure timely issuance of orders in line with project schedules.
- Share sub-contract order copies with relevant departments, including Health & Safety.
- Managing Variations:
- Identify and document contract changes through site meetings or client instructions.
- Estimate and log the value of variations, maintaining a register to track sources, references, and financial impacts.
- Valuations and Invoicing:
- Prepare and submit valuations to clients at intervals defined by the contract.
- Assess project completion levels to support valuations and initiate invoice preparation upon agreement.
- Site Meetings and Progress Monitoring:
- Attend regular site meetings to review progress against programs and budgets.
- Document site visits and maintain records within the job file.
- Final Accounts:
- Prepare final accounts post-Practical Completion.
- Ensure timely applications for retention release payments.
- Submit final accounts within required timeframes based on project value.
- Cash Collection:
- Collaborate with the Accounts team to ensure client payments are collected on time.
- Record Keeping and Post-Contract Review:
- Maintain comprehensive project records in both physical and digital formats.
- Arrange and conduct Post-Contract Review Meetings within 10 working days of project completion.
Experience & Skills Required
- Proven QS experience within the shop fitting, bespoke joinery, or fire door sectors.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Hurst are seeking a Business Development Manager who takes a proactive approach to identifying and pursuing new business opportunities across the retail, leisure, education, and workspace sectors, supporting the continued growth of our Stores & Interiors division. You’ll focus on generating and developing opportunities for interior fit-out and refurbishment projects, building strong relationships, and driving growth through your own initiative and commercial insight. Day-to-day responsibilities include researching and qualifying leads, building and maintaining client relationships, preparing and delivering proposals and presentations, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure offerings meet client needs. The role involves managing a sales pipeline, negotiating commercial terms, tracking market trends, and contributing to revenue forecasts and business planning. The Business Development Manager will also represent Hurst at client meetings, industry events, and site visits to support growth and brand visibility.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in business development, sales, or account management within construction, interiors, retail fit-out, or related sectors.
- Strong skills in prospecting, lead qualification, pipeline management, and closing deals to meet or exceed sales targets.
- Ability to build and sustain long-term client relationships, with excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Senior Electrician / NICEIC QS role based in Bradford. The successful applicant will be responsible for a variety of electrical tasks, including installation, maintenance, repair, and testing of electrical systems. Day-to-day duties include troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical issues, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, overseeing the quality of work, and assisting with project management to deliver exceptional electrical solutions for fit-out and refurbishment projects.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Electricity and Electrical Work, including installations, upgrades, and compliance with industry standards.
- Skills in Maintenance & Repair, with the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex electrical issues efficiently.
- Experience in Electrical Engineering and technical expertise in commercial and industrial settings.
- Strong knowledge of NICEIC requirements and ability to serve as a Qualified Supervisor (QS).
- Effective problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
- Ability to work on-site in Bradford as part of a cohesive team, ensuring timely project completion.
- Relevant qualifications, such as NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, and Inspection and Testing (2391 or equivalent).
